Built in 1914, Wrigley Field is home to the Chicago Cubs. Located just 5.4 miles from our Hard Rock Hotel in the north side community area of Lakeview, Wrigley Field is known for its ivy-covered brick outfield wall, its iconic, red marquee over the main entrance, a hand-turned scoreboard, and many other features. This historic park is surrounded by a residential area with bars, restaurants, and other establishments called Wrigleyville.
This year marks 100 years of Wrigley Field history, and Cubs fans are invited to join the “Party of the Century.” The 2014 season is dedicated to displaying the legendary past of this great ballpark by honoring its 10 decades with 10 unique, decade-themed, throwback homestands with special guests, events, food, promotions, and more. U.S. Cellular Field
Baseball fans seeking a more modern sports experience will find it at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox. This baseball parks has plenty to offer White Sox fans, including a Party Deck, XFINITY Fundamentals area for kids, Home Plate Club, and Club Level. You’ll also find on-site restaurants, bars, and concessions that only add to the experience. U.S. Cellular Field is located 5.6 miles away from our Chicago hotel, so you’re never too far away from the game.
Hosting basketball games, hockey matches, and concerts since 1994, the United Center is the largest arena in the U.S. it is home to the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls and hosts more than 200 events ever year, including the 1996 Democratic National Conference, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, and concerts by The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, U2, and many more. In addition to the sports and events you’ll watch here, the United Center features one-of-a-kind statues of some of the most famous players to compete within its walls. The bronze Michael Jordan Statue, standing 12’ tall and weighing 2,000 pounds, was unveiled in November or 1994, at which time his No. 23 jersey was also retired. Two Chicago Blackhawks players are also memorialized in life-size statue form: Stanislav “Stan” Mikita and Robert Marvin “Bobby” Hull. Other famous statues in the center commemorate Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and longtime broadcaster, Johnny “Red” Kerr.
